Reaping the harvest of our new culture of fear
Wednesday 18 July 2007 at 11:25 pm Uncharacteristically watching the news briefly on television tonight, I saw a report about the steam pipe breach in Manhattan. It was reported that many people thought at first it was "another terrorist attack". This is exactly why I've given up on the United States and am resolved to leave when I can. There is no hope for a society so mired in fear that they can't revolt to overthrow the overlords benefitting from controlling them with that fear. Tuesday 10 July 2007 at 4:06 pm The alleged "research" in which pharmaceutical companies engage doesn't seem very much like what I would consider either research or science. It's hit-or-miss bad science. (more)eBay is ripping-off many auction buyers
Friday 06 July 2007 at 09:46 amI have encountered what was apparently a known and tolerated bug in eBay's auction system. Apparently the common wisdom, that one is never supposed to view the results of an auction immediately when it closes, managed to somehow pass me by. Color me stupid. What follows is a dialog that occurred on Slashdot:
