IP surveys: they're not what you think....
Monday 26 February 2007 at 01:18 amHave you ever heard of an "IP survey"? I certainly hadn't, not until tonight. Of course the acronym "IP", to me, means "intellectual property"; as I discovered, however, there's a very different meaning of that acronym for mineralogists and geologists. This is also a story describing just how readily and completely distracted I can get!

Saturday 17 February 2007 at 12:45 am I've recently been made aware of what appears to be a fairly new Web enterprise, MyHeritage.com. They're offering a somewhat gimmicky "free" feature that allows one to submit a personal face photo and then attempts to match it with photos of celebrities with similar facial features. Never mind that it's a gimmick and not at all accurate, there's a bigger problem: (more)What NOT to do with Dr. Pepper

Sunday 11 February 2007 at 05:28 amThe world is now a better place for her absence. I think there's room for refinement of the points and evidence, so feel free to share if you can contribute to that refinement.

Wednesday 07 February 2007 at 1:19 pm This commentary had its genesis on a dating site to which I belong, of all things, but I figured I'd better blog it here to preserve it for myself and others. A comment about marriage posted by a libbie provided an interesting glimpse into his hidden agenda as a libbie: (more)I Wish There Was a God (a poem)
Wednesday 07 February 2007 at 01:24 am This is a marvelous poem that freethinkers will likely enjoy; others probably won't! It debuted at, of all places, an online dating site to which I belong: (more)Stoopid traffic signals! Stoopid planners!
Saturday 03 February 2007 at 01:37 am What the hell is wrong with city planners and traffic engineers in the United States? Why is it they either routinely fail to see or willfully ignore the enormous benefits of "traffic circles"? Why is it they continue to favor and proselytize stop signs and traffic signals at a time when Europe has successfully been deploying traffic circles - now re-aliased as "roundabouts" - for about two decades? Thursday 01 February 2007 at 4:04 pmEarlier in the week, there was quite a flap in Boston over a batch of promotional devices that had been seeded about town to advertise an animated series and upcoming derivative movie from the Cartoon Network. Many people who saw or encountered the devices thought they were bombs and steered clear of them. Well, not this one woman....
